Today is the last day to make sure your voter registration is current!

October 15, 2012

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports, "Today is the deadline in Virginia to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election. Anyone eligible to register to vote can obtain an application at local voter registration offices, on the State Board of Elections website or at its office, and at public libraries and Department of Motor Vehicles offices, among other places. The applications are pre-addressed and can be mailed or hand-delivered to any official voter registration office. Applications must be postmarked by today."

Progressive Point: Today is the last day to make sure your voter registration is current. Your voice matters, but many people move and forget they need to update their registration. Conservative Tea Party groups are making plans to bully Virginians at the polls if anything is amiss with their ID or registration.

Voting brings us together as Americans. By voting, you join your family and friends in helping to strengthen our community. Voting is the one time when we are all equal -- whether young or old, rich or poor -- and the one time when we all have the same say. Your vote makes a difference, and together, Americans' voices count. If you don't vote, you can't complain. Check your voter registration today and share this information so every eligible voter can participate in our democracy.
