Romney and Ryan put millionaires above Virginia's middle class

August 13, 2012

ThinkProgress reports, "Mitt Romney has picked as his running mate 42 year-old Republican Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI), the architect of the GOP budget, which the New York Times has described as 'the most extreme budget plan passed by a house of Congress in modern times.'"

Progressive Point: In Virginia, our leaders are supposed to work for all of us, not just the wealthiest few. Mitt Romney's choice of Paul Ryan confirms one thing: Romney never flip-flops on putting millionaires ahead of the middle class.

Romney and Ryan want to raise taxes on the middle class, end Medicare as we know it, and gut investments in America's home front to pay for new tax loopholes for the richest few like Wall Street CEOs and their hedge fund managers. Virginia's choice is clear: a country where hardworking families pay more so the richest few pay less--or an America where we all pay our fair share and get a fair shot.
