Romney-Ryan vision for Virginia: we pay more, millionaires pay less
August 17, 2012The Virginian-Pilot reports, "Paul Ryan, the man chosen as Mitt Romney's running mate, just can't seem to stay away from Virginia these days. Less than a week after Romney revealed his choice of Ryan at a campaign rally in Norfolk, the Wisconsin Congressman is back in the Old Dominion today and Friday for a pair of fundraisers and political rallies." Progressive Point: Our leaders are supposed to work for all of us, not just the wealthiest few. Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan is in Virginia today, trying to explain why raising taxes on the middle class, ending Medicare as we know it, and gutting home front investments is the right path for our Commonwealth. While that might work for millionaires like Mitt Romney, those policies leave the rest of us behind. A massive transfer of wealth from working families to the already-rich is devastating to Virginia families--it's a one-way ticket to disaster, not an America that works for everyone. It's no wonder Mitt Romney picked Ryan to be his running mate--Ryan's plan would let Romney pay a tax rate lower than 1% and end Medicare's guarantee of coverage that he'll never need. The Romney-Ryan vision is clear: an America where hardworking families pay more so the richest few pay less. |
