McDonnell's Pick Me for VP Tour
May 7, 2012The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported last week that, "Gov. Bob McDonnell will embark next week on a 'Virginia: Growing Strong' tour... The [TV] ad and the tour, which the administration says is official state business, follow a legislative session that included several social issues. A Quinnipiac University poll in March showed McDonnell with a 53 percent approval rating, the lowest since Quinnipiac began polling in the state in June." Progressive Point: Virginians need leadership that will focus on our economy and create quality jobs. Unfortunately, the only career Bob McDonnell is concerned about this week is his own. But Bob McDonnell's Vice-Presidential prospects aren't going to go up until he focuses on investing in our economy and finishing the job we elected him to do. A week-long tour and a TV ad aren't going to make Virginians forget about invasive ultrasounds, voter suppression, and the repeal of public safety protections. If Bob McDonnell wants better poll numbers, he should focus on doing his current job rather than the one he wants next--the same way working Virginians do every day. |
