McDonnell is for Corporations, but Virginia is for Families

October 28, 2011

Governor McDonnell's continued attempts to make Virginia more big business friendly are coming at the expense of Virginia's working families. His strategy of cutting funding to education, public safety, state pension funds, and passing the buck to localities so that he can lower taxes on corporations and wealthy donors will have a dire effect on our families, our communities, and the moral makeup of our Commonwealth.

Progressive Point: While Governor Bob McDonnell attempts to make Virginia more attractive to corporations and the 1%, he's leaving Virginia families behind. Cutting education, transportation and public safety while passing the buck to local governments increases the burden on our communities and families. Virginia's families need a good education for their children, adequate roads to get to work, and enough firemen and police officers to keep them safe--not just jobs at McDonnell's corporations. Our commonwealth must prioritize the common good to support Virginia's families, not just the 1%.
