Conservatives attacking women's rights instead of focusing on solutions
August 29, 2012The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports, "While Mitt Romney trails President Barack Obama among women in recent polls, some of the Republican's Virginia supporters say the way to reach female voters is through their pocketbooks. Both campaigns are targeting female voters in Virginia -- holding women-specific outreach events in the state this week." Progressive Point: Our country faces big issues but instead of focusing on solutions and growing our economy, conservatives are attacking women's rights. From redefining rape to promoting an extreme anti-choice party platform, Bob McDonnell, Paul Ryan, and Mitt Romney have made clear their focus is on a radical anti-woman agenda. Far right-wing politicians aren't focused on our real problems. While millions of Americans struggle to find a job, send their kid to college, and pay the bills, conservatives continue their fight to take away women's rights. We need leaders with mainstream American values who will focus on the issues important to us, not politicians with extreme ideologies. |
