Progressive Coalition to Welcome Legislators Back to Richmond
"We Are Virginia" plans to remind legislators to represent their constituents, not lobbyists and campaign donors, during the General Assembly session
Richmond - A diverse assembly of progressive groups and individuals will gather at the General Assembly on Wednesday, January 11th to welcome legislators back to Richmond and remind them of their constituents' priorities for the upcoming session.
In the run-up to the General Assembly session, numerous legislators have indicated their intention to work this year to implement an extreme conservative agenda that Virginians did not vote for and that Virginians don't support. Legislators have pre-filed extreme bills, including attempts to restrict voting rights, limit women's access to reproductive health care and birth control, allow guns in schools, widen corporate tax loopholes, and moves to privatize public education.
Instead of being divided by diverse issues and interests, individuals and groups will come together to speak as one and fight back against those who wish to implement a conservative agenda at the capitol.
